REVIEW: ELF Flawless Face Foundation

Hey beauties! I do not normally do reviews unless I absolutely LOVE or HATE something and feel the urge to pass that along to you! So when I find something that fits that criteria I feel obligated to share it with my readers......

Today I want to talk about a new product I have been LOVING at the moment and that is the ELF Flawless Face Foundation. ($6 USD at Target or www.eyelipsface.com) Check out my thoughts below:

Rating System: Thumbs up... 5 being the best

Packaging: I LOVE the packaging! It is a cute glass bottle that has almost a ghosted look to it. I love the sturdiness of it and the cap stays on really nicely. Some other reviewers claimed their caps were SO tight that it forced the product to leak, but I didn't have this problem at all. You get 0.8 FL ounces which doesn't seem like much BUT it comes with a pump so that you only use what you need.

ELF Flawless Face Foundation (Color: Buff)

The Pump (My FAVORITE part!)

Product: The product itself is a lovely consistency I think. It IS a bit on the thicker side formula wise and for some that's a deal breaker. If you have dry skin, I would say THIS is not the foundation for you. Because of its consistency, the flawless foundation can have the tendency to amplify dry patches and create an unwanted effect.  ELF's website says this is a "semi-matte" finish and I would completely agree! For someone like me who has a combo normal to oily skin situation this is PERFECT. I have been looking for another daily foundation that I could rotate into my collection and this is definitely a keeper.

The ELF website also claims that this is a "long-wearing" formula and this would be one of my disagreements. I felt like at hour 10 of wearing it I REALLY needed to touch up. Now 10 hours IS a long time but if you are going from work to a night out you might really want to test this out first on your own skin.

SPF 15: Now the makeup artist in me; because this product contains an SPF component I would not recommend it for a photo situation i.e your wedding, friends wedding, photo shoot, etc. SPF creates something called "flashback". What that means is, when a camera's flash goes off it creates a reflection in your makeup and can then appear as if you have an oil slick on your face when you really don't! Nobody wants that, right!? If this is something you want to wear for this type of situation I strongly urge you to try it out several times before hand to make sure.

Color selection: Here is the other kind of "bummer" factor with this product. There are only 6 shades available online: Porcelain (lightest shade), Sand (medium light shade), Buff (my color and the medium shade), Caramel (medium to dark), Almond (medium dark) and finally Cocoa (the darkest available shade).
This can make it REALLY tough to find your color match. I was fortunate in that Buff was nearly the perfect shade for me at the moment. That being said, at 6 dollars a piece you could mix shades to find the perfect one for you if you really wanted to.

Color Swatch: Buff

Overall Rating: 4 thumbs up!!!

So there ya have it dolls, I really do love this product and am so glad I discovered it at my local Target. I hope this review was comprehensive enough for you and as always if you have any questions or need clarification, do not hesitate to leave a comment and I will get back to you ASAP!

XoXo
